How To Be A Doer And Practice The Word Of God

Open your Bible to James 1:22 it says… But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Go ahead and highlight that scripture.

Does Jesus know you? Do you truly belong to Him? Will you listen and obey Him? Are you a Christ-follower? You see, God makes Himself known in your spirit with the intention of drawing you into a relationship with Himself through His Word. God has to have people who will both hear and do His Word. If there’s anything the devil can’t stand is you hearing, doing and practicing God’s Word.

It’s not easy and it takes spiritual work! Like what? You must open yourself to the influence of the Holy Spirit and be obedient to His guidance. You live so fully aware of God that you do not even need to ask what His will is, because the thought of choosing another way will never occur to you. You always look to Jesus with focused attention! Living a life of practicing the Word may not be easy, but it will be blessed by God.

As you walk with Jesus, you take on His thoughts, His teachings, and His attitude about how to please God. One of the challenges that you will have to face is whether you truly want to change. Don’t deceive yourself! There is a world of difference between a desire to change one day and to really change. The Holy Spirit will help you be a doer of the Word, but the Lord never changes a person against his or her will.

Many people just hear the Word, but they don’t live by the Word. Never forget that after you have accepted Jesus Christ as the Lord of your life, the process of spiritual growth should continue. Practicing and studying the scriptures is a source of infinite inspiration and guidance. That means when you’re a doer of the Word, the only thing that will fully satisfy you is an exciting relationship with the living God through Jesus! A doer of the Word always desires spiritual growth! Practicing the Word will bring spiritual growth that will fill your life with new meaning and purpose.

You need the inspiration, wisdom, and power of the indwelling Christ! You get to know Him through what scripture reveals of His character. The longer you walk with the Lord, the greater your enthusiasm should be. Submit to Christ so that He can work through you requires absolute surrender. That means you desire to be more than just a hearer of the Word.

If you’re wise, you’ll form the spiritual habit of hearing, doing and studying His Word. It’s a priority that nobody can change or talk you out of. A Christian must be consistent in a relationship with the Son of God. How? Practice! If you are a true disciple, you practice living by His Word, not only hearing it!

The whole attitude of your life is about obedience to Him, through His Word. That’s how you become a disciplined believer in the service of Jesus. Hearing the Word, studying the Word, and doing the Word is a source of continuous inspiration and guidance from the Holy Spirit. Now, raise up your hands and say, “I’m a doer of the Word, not just a hearer only”!
