What Is The Spirit Of Perversion?

Perversion is defined as the condition of being perverted or corrupt. It is the straying away from the natural to unnatural sexual practices or acts especially when it is done habitually. The spirit of perversion can be manifested in many ways such as sexual perversions, child abuse, pornography, incest, having a filthy mind, chronic worrying, walking in foolishness, twisting the word of God, evil actions, abortion, having a broken spirit, doctrinal error and atheism.

In the Book of Isaiah it speaks of God allowing a perverse spirit to be mingled in the midst of Egypt because of their continual sin and disobedience to God. It says “The Lord has mingled a perverse spirit in her midst; And they have caused Egypt to error in all her work, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit.”

Because of man’s disobedience and rebellion against God and Hid word, He will allow a perverse spirit to take over the minds and hearts of people who embrace and welcome this spirit. We are give choices in life and God never forces us to serve Him. He has given us free will. With this free will we can either serve Him and obey His word, or we can choose not to serve him and disobey his word, it’s just that simple.

We must understand though through our actions we will always reap a reaction. When we obey God and His Word, we reap abundant life, blessings, protection, joy, peace, love and everything good that God has purposed for our lives. When we go against God’s Word in rebellion and choose to live life our way, we reap sorrow and pain, hurt, confusion, lack, poverty and even death. Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.”

God’s Love For Us

John 3:16 says “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

God loves us all so very much, which is why He has created a way of escape for everything we could possible get ourselves into. The Bible says there is no test or temptation that comes your way that is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.

From the beginning of time in the Garden of Eden, God has set before us life and death. When he spoke to Adam in the Garden and told him not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he was setting Adam on the path of life. It was up to Adam to obey God’s word and choose life. He warned Adam that if he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that he would surely die.

This was not God tempting Adam to disobey him because God never tempts us with evil or to do wrong. Remember God has given us all free will and it is up to us to choose to live by His Word. His word is best for us because He is our Creator. He knows our beginning, our end and our journey in between. There is nothing to hard for God. Nothing is a mystery or surprise to God, but it is to us. God has already walked out our entire lives for us. He knows the traps that have been set up by Satan to kill our dreams, to steal our destiny and to destroy our future. God knows where the stumbling blocks have been laid in the road of life to cause you to stumble and fall. He knows where the hidden ditches have been set up for you by the enemy to cause you to fall off and be lost in dark places of confusion and despair so you can give up and die!

We will ultimately fall into the traps of life that the enemy has set up for us, when we choose to walk in rebellion to Gods laws. God has given us His laws for our protection. It is just like a good parent. As a parent we give our children rules to obey and follow not because we want to ruin their fun and make them miserable. We give them rules for their protection, to keep them safe from evil and to save their lives. It is the same with God. His love for us is even greater and His Word is given to us always for our protection, to keep us safe from the evil one and to give us eternal and abundant life.

Disobedience Leads To Perversion

According to Romans 1:18-32 we see how our disobedience can and will lead to a spirit of perversion taking over. It says: “God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles. So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired.

As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

As we can see, as a result of disobedience their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. These are the results of what happens when we try to do things our way. It also tells us that they also disobey their parents. Does this sound like the time we are living in today where children are disobedient to their parents and even going so far as to killing their parents because they do not want to obey their rules.

Consequences Of Disobedience

There are always consequences to sin. Even with knowing God’s law and His Word was for their protection, the people chose to disobey. Verse 26 says that is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. When we continue to live this life according to our own lustful desires and walk after the spirit of perversion, God will remove His Hand and His protection from over a person, a city, a state or even an entire nation. When the hand of God is removed and this spirit of perversion is released it will lead a nation into all kinds of trouble.
